Wordle Project

An individual Futuregames C++ console assignment covering file-based word selection, input validation, game-state handling, feedback states, and replay.

Project context

Wordle Project was an individual Futuregames C++ course assignment from March 2022. The task was to analyze Wordle and build a console-based implementation with an object-oriented structure and a complete playable loop.

It is an early educational C++ project rather than a modern production sample, but it provides a useful snapshot of my progression into game programming before later engine-based C++ work.

Implementation

The preserved implementation reads candidate words from an external text file, selects a random hidden word, validates five-character player input, and gives the player six attempts.

Each guess is evaluated into correct, misplaced, or incorrect letter states and communicated through colored console output. The game handles win and loss states and supports starting another round after a completed game.

A HiddenWord class encapsulates the selected word and answer-checking behavior, while the surrounding game loop manages input, attempts, feedback, and replay.

Scope

This was a compact course exercise, not an attempt to reproduce every edge case or production rule of Wordle. The preserved implementation uses standard-library containers such as std::vector; I therefore do not present it as evidence of a custom word-container implementation.

The main value of the project is early practical C++ experience across OOP, file I/O, input validation, game-state handling, and console feedback.
