Anomaly 52

An Unreal Engine 4.27 and C++ project where I was primarily responsible for the core puzzle system.

Overview

Anomaly 52 was a puzzle-platformer developed by Team SEIA during an approximately seven-week Futuregames project in May–June 2022. The team built the game in Unreal Engine 4.27 using C++.

My Contribution

I was primarily responsible for the core C++ puzzle system and implemented nearly all of it myself. The system used Unreal delegates, configurable IDs, activation events, and tracked puzzle states to connect interactions and key objects to generators and gameplay outcomes such as doors.

The implementation was not built around a generic PuzzleBase inheritance hierarchy. Instead, the reusable behavior came from the event-driven connections and configurable state relationships between gameplay objects.

Technical Focus

A typical puzzle flow connected an interaction or key object to generator logic, then propagated an activation/state event identified through configurable IDs. Gameplay objects such as doors could track required activations before triggering their outcome.

Gameplay logic was implemented in C++, with selected properties and presentation hooks exposed to Blueprint. The archived source snapshot does not include the Unreal Content/ directory, so this case does not make claims about how Blueprint assets or graphs were used in production.

Evidence and Boundaries

The recovered C++ source supports the system description above, while Emil’s personal ownership of the core puzzle system is based on explicit attribution verification rather than source existence alone.

Pickup / PickupComponent integrates with the puzzle logic, but my personal contribution to that system is not certain, so it is not listed as one of my verified contributions. I also do not claim ownership of the project’s glitch, dash, gravity, or player-movement systems.
